Andover Recreation is excited to announce the hiring of Chris Dempsey in the role of Recreation Coordinator.
Dempsey comes to Andover Rec from the city of Salem, MA Park, Recreation & Community Services Department where he was in charge of programming, supervising staff, managing social media, and overseeing purchasing. During his time there, Dempsey gained a lot of hands on experience with coordinating summer camps, large sports leagues, and events.
“I’m very excited to be joining the Andover Rec team,” says Dempsey on his first official day with the Town, “I’m looking forward to getting to know more about the community and running exciting and fun programs for everyone!”
In this role, Dempsey will be overseeing all the divisions programming, events, and trips. He will be the supervisor for the Andover Rec Kid Care After-School program, as well as supervising staff as the summer programs, Pomps Pond, and program staffing throughout the year. Dempsey will also be slated with seeking out and developing new programs to provide to the community through the division.
Andover Recreation Director Jessica Downing says that Chris’ outgoing personality and creative drive will be a great addition to the Division. She went on to say, “With an entrepreneurial mind-set, Chris is ready to develop new and exciting programs and events for the Town of Andover as well as put a fresh spin on some of our long lasting traditional programs.”
In addition to his work at Salem, Chris also has experience with facility management, concessions operations, and event management operations through a position with the Endicott College Raymond J. Bourque Arena and has previous experience working with the Harwich Recreation Department and the Boys & Girls Club of Assabet Valley/Maynard Recreation.
Dempsey is a graduate of Endicott College, with a Bachelors of Science in Sports Management as well as a Masters of Business Administration. He is originally from Dedham, Massachusetts, but currently resides in Danvers.
